Article Base - From Politics to Games, it might be covered here.

Like most people, I have a wide range of interests, dislikes and opinions.  I feel my broad range of eclectic interests make me a bit unique. While I've always thought no one could possibly have the same likes, dislikes and opinions, as it turns out, I'M WRONG! It seems EVERYONE loves a good video game, has curious love/hate relationship with politics, and ponders God, religion, race, science, and the universe.

Get Unplugged
Yup, millions of you crazies are online looking for some validation or satisfaction.  Well, it isn't going to happen.  You'll keep looking, but your not going to find it here.  Do yourself a favor and shut off the TV, unplug your radio, turn off your IPOD, CELL PHONE and COMPUTER and go pick up a book! Take a moment and actually read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Terry Jones's War on the War on Terror, Principles of Quantum Mechanics, and Leonardo Da Vinci: Scientist, Inventor, Artist.

Would Leonardo Surf?
Leonardo, what a cool odd-ball he was. He's really a man of our time.  Were he alive today, would he invent and create masterpieces or would he spend his time surfing the net looking for a love connection, watching videos on YouTube, playing WoW, paying bills, or shop for bargains on Auto Insurance?  How many of his amazing masterpieces would be lost to the Whore of Babylon we call the Internet?  Would he watch Fox News, MSNBC or CNN? Would he suffer through Cable TV, Satellite TV or go with FIOS?  What would he think of the Video Phone?  Would he see the irony in Microsoft becoming irrelevant and Apple turning into the "Death Star".  Would Leonardo work at home, doing his own thing, or would he be running Google?
Raison D'être
Speculation is the source of wonder, but mostly, I wonder how the heck I got here. Really. My parents were two of the most unlikely people to get together. The old man was a Harvard grad and my mother was a hippie (long before hippie was hip).  Fortunately, I realized my Raison d'être was the same as my parents, their parents, and those before them for hundreds of generations... Spawning offspring!  Like my father before me, I enjoyed life (and lots of it) before taking the plunge.  When my kids are my age, I'll be in my 90's.  It's difficult to imagine what the world will be like that far into the future.

Astronomical Future
On our journey into the future, we have a few hurdles to jump. What happens in 2012?  As the Mayan Calendar ticks down to zero-hour on December 21st, 2012, the Earth, Moon and Sun align with the black hole at the heart of the Milky Way Galaxy.  Will the mantle of the Earth spin? Will volcanic eruptions and earthquakes bring the end for human kind?  Some vulcanologist and astronomists now believe lunar, solar, and planetary alignments may actually pull on the earths crust, causing more intense eruptions and earthquakes. (See data here)  If we skate through that mine field unscathed, we still have a huge near-miss to contend with in 2029 (Asteroid 2004 MN4 Apophis).  If the bugger doesn't get us in 2029, it will pay us a visit in 2036 (April 13th, to be precise) as it lands just off the Southern California coast. Of course, every year NASA spys Apophis, they gain more trajectory data and have determined that it has a 1 in 45,000 chance of laying some smack-down on sunny L.A..

Dream of the Blue Turtle
In our not-so-distant-future, I hope the world discards nuclear weapons for something more practical like boxing gloves.  "Sting" got it right in his "Dream of the Blue Turtle" when he sang "I hope the Russians love their children too". My father devoted his life to preventing nuclear war with the hope of a brighter, enlightened world after the defeat of communism. Needless to say, we didn't see him much.  We toasted the fall of the Berlin Wall, but luckily, perhaps, he wasn't around to experience the start of this new millennium.  By 2001, he'd joined the Quantum on the next leg of his big adventure.
